((Click “more” to see the Challenge)) Got bored playing Thief on Expert cause it got to easy, so I made things harder for myself. THE CHALLENGE: Complete the level as fast as you can on Expert while. (1) Not get Caught EVEN ONCE. -when they begin to run and follow you through the shadows your caught- (2) No Knocking out/Killing/Flash bombing guards, No tools maybe used except lock picks. (3)No turning off lights (extinguish lamps and candles, etc.) 4) No damage taken (from falling off too high for example) (5) Steal 100% of the loot in each mission. (6) If distraction is needed, you may only use objects like candle sticks (IF THEY’RE NOT ON), box, etc. No Noisemaker arrows. (7)The “No getting caught” rule applies to “The City” also. (8)Do not lead enemy Factions so that they kill eachother. (Lead pagans to hammerites, lead zombies to people, etc) If they happened to run into eachother on their own acord, thats fine. (EX. Jacknall’s Paw mission) -Only exception too these rules if it you need them to complete an objective. EXCEPTIONS MADE TO COMPLETE OBJECTIVE: -Killed a guard to open lock to get Jaknall’s Paw -Used Water/Moss Arrow to open lock to get Jaknall’s Paw Comments: All I gotta say is… about Freakin TIME!!!!!!! You guys dont know HOW fing hard this was… this must have taken me about over 100 attempts. There are just SO many ways to screw up. I almost blew it espically on the head Sage’s room. Do you know why someone will reinstall deus ex every time it’s mentioned? Do you know why people will still FUCK YEAH every time someone talks about the cradle, years after thief 3 was released? Do you know why people still rave about planescape torment and reminisce about the good times playing diablo II with friends?
Because they’re solid games with solid gameplay, bad graphics or no, and that’s what makes a game memorable. It’s what makes them incredibly great instead of just decent.

No, no one cares about realism.
It’s why fantasy games like oblivion and dragon age, with colors and proportions which barely even make any sense in terms of realism are so popular.
It’s why cartoonish games like borderlands and battlefield heroes are massively fun and popular.
It’s why people will spend hundreds of hours on indie games with blocky graphics (such as minecraft) but drop games with large budgets and pretty settings after the first hour.
@blashyrhkRAAA make up your mind, are the shadows not dark enough or “waay too dark”? What’s your point anyway? TDS was released in 2004. If you want awesome graphics, fuck-all story and just to blow shit up from a 2004 game, fuck off and play Doom 3. If you want awesome graphics & story futuristic scifi style, play Half-Life 2. If you want steampunk/tech fantasy storyline and stealth gameplay, you should actually try Thief3 but if you don’t, why are you even watching this video?
@blashyrhkRAAA heh, you just disproved what you’re trying to say. You play games because they’re NOT just like real life. Ie, because total realism = boring as shit. And if all you want out of a game is being able to mindlessly slaughter people who say stuff you disagree with, why the hell would you play thief in the first place? Oh right, you haven’t. Immersion in this game also comes from atmosphere, setting, voice acting and story… if you don’t pay attention to that stuff you wouldn’t know.
@HideUnderFear By the way max brightness or not, this is still unrealistic, just by looking at how all the lights are contrasted, if you turned it down everything would be waay too dark, the light reflection is lacking.

Because it’s funner to feel as if its real, letting you do things you couldnt normally do in real life, like killing idiots like you, too bad killing swine is illegal.

Realism is overrated. If you dislike a game with fun gameplay, a SOLID atmosphere, an interesting storyline and voice acting which ranges from hilarious to fucking terrifying, just because it’s not pretty enough, you need to fuck off. Right now.
Also, he’s playing with the brightness maxed out (lolchallengegimmick). Of course, you’d know this had you actually played thief 3 before instead of just talking out of your ass.

@espereth Uh no not at all actually, theres many games that have proper stealth elements to them, they could easily made the shadows darker and it would of been more realistic, i’ve seen better from san andreas.

You don’t have to kill a guard to open the lock in Jaknall’s Paw mission. There is an already dead body by the stairs leading down to the treebeast’s lair. You can have his blood if you dagger him at the tree-lock.
Once I played thru TDS with knocking down only one – the innkeeper in the tutorial mission. (Shalebridge cradle was a pain in the ass with all the 9 puppets alive! XD )

i think its baffling that nobody sees him in those light up “shadows”, if they wanted to make this game realistic they would make the shadows darker and make the stealth element a little more probable.
