The baboon mind would shed light on the baboon mind. Can’t say as though I’d call it ‘spiritual, however.

Yes, that is definitely true. Humans are primarily apes and the sooner we fully realize it and accept it with our being, the sooner we can go back to successfully achieving wise, transcendent consciousness.
I didn’t know Darwin said that. It’s an excellent statement. Keep in mind, Locke isn’t exactly a high standard to meet, as his primary contribution toward wisdom was writing a legalistic defense of selfishness.
I think a baboon can shed just as much light on this subject as an evolutionist…. maybe more.
Since you posted this question in the religon section, the i guess you would like to know my answer as a religous. My answer (as a practicing catholic) is no. My religion tells that human was not “evolved” from some animal, but that the human being of today was made by god in his likeness. Thus, i don’t believe that the way baboons think will help us understand how we used to think.
