Question by James Ramirez: Is anyone else tired of new age religions and converts?
I know it’s fashionable for hollywood celebrities to rock the boat, but is anyone else sick of hearing about new age religions? To be honest, I am an atheist and can’t stand any religion-as I see it violates rational thought and is a form of child abuse.

I disagree with your atheism stance (Vonnegut was my favorite atheist–he’s up in Heaven now), though.
If you call religion “child abuse” you’d better be ready to get the courts and police involved, and start arresting parents for raising their children in their faith. Otherwise it’s just irresponsible loose talk.

If it doesn’t harm you, why should you care? In my faith we don’t even indoctrinate our children, so of course we don’t proselytize either. We don’t even encourage conversion if contacted in most cases. Then again, we’re hardly “new age”. We’re one of the oldest continuously practiced faiths on the planet and most people have no idea we’re here because we mind our own damn business. I have a feeling if more faiths were like that, most people wouldn’t have a problem with them.
Reason is a two edged sword when it comes to the existence of deity. While most of the classical arguments for the existence of god can be countered they have yet to be discarded. So religion/belief in god is far from irrational.
Child abuse? All religions? Surely you jest. Just as a child gets indoctrinated with a religion so to is a child indoctrinated to reject religion as nonsense.
