The authors do a good job showing women how much innate, feminine mystical power we all possess and how we can maximize that power in our daily lives and our relatioships with men. This is a great boost for many women who have become so androgynous in their work roles that they have forgotten how great it can be to have feminine wiles in their arsenal. There is one problem in the text of the book, however–handling male infidelity. Under “Infidelity–Cavorting Consorts” a man’s one-night stand is euphemistically referred to as an “oopsey or a “lapse” and a “wise woman” should forgive him because men are “curious” and have a “head for trouble.” Wow.Under “Affairs(The Big Nasty)” When a woman finds that her man is having one, she should, “Rage, scream, rant and show him what he means to you.” (Why?) The reader is then advised to get professional help to help get to the bottom of the issue. They offer that if the affair continues while you are still together, clearing and reconnecting rituals can be done to help you gain equilibrium and/or bond as a couple. As a sexually empowered woman, why would you put yourself through this agony?I feel that this advice defeats the purpose of the book. Women learn sexual and sensual sorcery and seduction techniques to empower themselves. Not knowing when to rid oneself of a disloyal lover only serves to reinforce negative male behaviors. If your consort cheats and the only consequences are relationship therapy and the satisfaction of your rage and hurt, he will continue hurting you. I doubt the women who buy this book would want to go through such a painful, self-defeating process. On a brighter note, however, the advice about astrology, aromatherapy and chakra systems is right on. Overall, a good book with that one caveat.

We’ve all heard that sexiness is all in one’s attitude, that anyone can be beautiful if she feels beautiful. But how do you get there? Barrie Dolnick and friends can help. _Sexual Bewitchery_ is a down-to-earth guide to being your sexy self, with the aid of chakras, astrology, and plain common sense. The basic premise is that sexiness is something in a person’s aura or energy, and that a woman can intentionally invoke a sexy aura with the aid of goddesses both ancient (Aphrodite) and more recent (Mae West). First you learn how to glam yourself up, then how to charm that particular gentleman you’ve got your eye on. You don’t even need any expensive or hard-to-find “witchy” supplies, just your mind and body. Happy flirting!

As a woman who has always worn ruby red clothing and carnelian jewelry, this book is right down my alley. It is full of wisdom, as well as advice on sexuality, confidence-building, and general feminine witchiness. I highly recommend this book for all those who are sexual by nature (actively or not!) or who are just interested in exploring this side of themselves.
