Note that pagans are a wide ranging group and shamans a title which can fit into many belief systems so any usage of entheogens will be locally determined.

Most I know practice something similar, but do not use the term entheogen. I think your use of that term may have stinted the number of answers you received.
But, it’s not just in Paganism and HInduism. If you get a chance, read the christian Mystics St. Teresa of Avila. Her seminal work is called “Interior Castle,” which to me, very much outlines an entheogenic process.
