I have conflicting dates for the occult connection. Before Gebelin, there were other attempts I believe. I can see if I can find the source for you.

  • Tarockspieler says:

I think she’s mostly correct on the history except for some of the dates. It was really in the 18th century that occultists tried to connect the cards with Kabbalah. Occult tarot is based on the writings of Antoine Court de Gebelin. She’s right that tarot was made for game playing. I play games with tarot cards so I know this. Why not do a tarot game playing video?

This is perfect! I have been wondering about Tarot for some time now. I have my own deck here thats been unused for a while because each time I take a glance at the booklet, it seems a little daunting and I decide to put it away for another time. (I am also really bad at oil changing.)

Interesting, I may have to take Tarot more seriously – thanks for sharing. Have you looked into the I Ching at all?

  • BlueFireWitch says:

I’ve had best results with the Celtic Cross spread and the Zodiac Spread, but sometimes, I just pick a card and meditate on it. Examining what that card means to me at that time.

  • valaquenta62 says:

Thanks for posting this. I’ve read Tarot on and off for around 12 years but haven’t been doing much with it lately. This video has rekindled my interest.

Do you only use pre-existing spreads or do you create your own? I’ve used a spread for several years that’s basically an expansion of the Celtic cross spread…which makes it sound like I put it on toast.

  • Belladonna013 says:

I am very excited about you speaking of the tarot. I have just bought myself a new deck and I am now studying and I can’t wait to read. I will use my husband as my questioner for the first time. Let’s see, before you read, how do you prepare yourself mentally, do you meditate? Thank you.

  • greenearthwitch says:

Excellent intro, I love the tarot, its what started me down my pagan path. They really do work!

  • BlueFireWitch says:

I wouldn’t call them tarot if they didn’t but you can make your own divination cards of any kind. Whatever suits you.

  • wakingribbons says:

Question: Does your deck HAVE to have suits and major/minor arcana, or if you’re making it, can you come up with your own kind of cards?

My cards are made from my own mind and they work fantastically well. heh just a question.
