  • Live Music Fan says:

What is ridiculous, unreal, or illogical… aside from fairy gods?

  • NewlyBorn says:

It is practiced throughout the Bible stories… under a proper disguise, of course!

  • Jack T says:

Do you Shamanism as in the kind practiced by Turkic and Tungusic people in Siberia? If so, I respect their unique culture.

Or do you shamanism as in the New Age nut cases who pull it out of their arse and rake in cash hand over fist? Yeah, that’s stupid and disrespectful of real Shamanism.

  • A Bounder and a Cad says:

Isnt that some sort of cleaning cloth that absorbs a lot of water?

  • David H says:

The word “ludicrous” comes immediately to mind.

  • [O]peration [I]raqi [L]iberation says:

For a method of practicing medicine, it was a good start. However now we have modern medical science which is supported by emperical evidence and is vastly superior. Which shaman invented the MRI machine, or arthroscopic surgery, or the polio vaccine?

  • ?s?? ??? ?o ™????? p????? says:

I think it is a path that some follow.
It is a peaceful path filled with respect for the earth and it’s creatures and deep reverence for the Divine.
Why try to discredit others’ belief systems?
Does it get you brownie points or something?

  • Space and Time says:

Doesn’t that fall under Cataclysm? (World of Warcraft expansion)

  • SchizoWriter says:

    No more so than theism.

My gf is into shamanism, and is hands down the more amiable and tolerant than any theist i’ve ever met.

  • mt75689 says:

Where do you think the word “sham” comes from?

  • oldandtired says:

They try to make you believe in magic, sort of like politicians, preachers, and economists. The second oldest profession probably.

  • Guippo X says:

I’m heard of far stranger things. I’m a little more freaked out by Scientology than I could ever be by Shamanism.

  • I got you babe. says:

It’s another form of egoism in disguise. There is no need for “I am a this, or I am a that” once rising and then flying above the ego.

No offense to anyone, but it is the ego that loves to attach itself to labels. Ask yourself, ‘can I go without calling myself something, or identifying with a label, other than my own name, for one day?’ 🙂

Can you and ‘will’ you go naked and bare your true spirit for one day without wanting to slap a label on its butt? 🙂 (not you personally)

I am no less than the sound of my name.

  • Melkha says:

Shamanism is mysticism, most every culture and religion has there own form of mystic, it is just called by a different name. Contemplative, meditation, Kabalah, Shamanism to name a few.The practices and rituals are nearly the same in all groups of the mystic arts.
It is very real, has the power for great good and great harm depending on how it is used.

  • Lazlo says:

Shamanism was an early spiritual practice, found throughout the world,
that makes use of the repetitive drum or rattle to journeying into your sub conscience.
The repetitive beat (4 cycles/second)has been scientifically confirmed to match delta match brain waves found when sleeping.
I have journeyed & believe there is something to it.
I don’t believe you talk to god or leave the body as some do.

  • Something Smells Fishy ACA says:

My wife is into shamanism. I have respect for it as a religion, though I don’t follow it myself.

I Got You Babe: Actually, for the shamanism my wife follows, overcoming the ego is a big part of it.

  • Shorty says:

It is a beautiful way of life. 🙂

  • Amy says:

It works for certain kinds of people but personally I’m not a fan.
