Question by Skater: world of warcraft question about shamans?
if u know anything about shamans, please tell me this.. im starting a new char on a new server so i wanted to know.. would a hunter or a shaman do more dps? cause for a shaman, i see that a good way would be to hit with earth shock then lighting bolt or wave whatever and then melee or whatever.. i know how to play a hunter i got one to level 21 but i want to start a new char… also …. whats with the totems? do they really help u out or not really? cause they seem kinda annoying to me..

At a higher lvl the shamans do higher DPS. If you get the epic sets from the BG that will make you amazing. My ex has a lvl 60 with the champion set and he has some spells hitting for over 1000. I have a hunter and I’m hitting lower than him when he was at my lvl (it could also be because of my armor and weapons). Shamans to the alliance are like paladins to the hord. They hate shamans.

Shamans do *sick* damage, especially if specced/geared right. Hunters can probably (if equivalently geared) do more in the long run (especially due to pets), but a shaman can do incredible burst damage, especially in PvP. An instant-cast shock spell, followed by a windflurry proc (with, very likely, at least one crit in there) can do a good 2k damage in about 2 seconds. Enough to make almost anybody sit up and pay attention.
Totems can be *very* handy – drop a bunch of sticks, and suddenly you’ve got mana regen, healing, increased armor, resistance to fear… you name it. Only issue is that they’re not mobile.
